Dear SDAAO Members:
I take great pleasure in addressing you as your 2011 – 2012 president.
This next year will be filled with many challenges and
obstacles, however out of great adversity comes great opportunity. Budgets
continue to tighten at all levels of government. It will be a challenge to
provide the quality of service that is required of us, to do more with less, but
we will meet that challenge.
We will continue to see many new faces as our members retire
or move on to other employment. Education will remain paramount to bring those
new members up to speed and to provide our more experienced people with the
tools that they need. I have the utmost confidence in our education committee,
as they work with the Department of Revenue and Regulation to provide the
quality of continuing education that we need at a reasonable cost.
As always, our legislative committee will continue to provide vital
legislative updates to our members, and to supply our legislators with
information pertaining to the assessment field, that they may make more informed
decisions.
In closing, thank you for allowing me to serve as your president. Never
hesitate to contact me with your suggestions, concerns and questions, and be
sure to stop in whenever you are in Sioux Falls.
