This two-day event in Rapid City provided a great opportunity to learn more about land ownership (cadastral) GIS data development issues. The BHDMA is the lead facilitator for the cadastral initiative for South Dakota. This was certainly one event you did not want to miss. The
education packed, fast moving presentations were extremely interesting. For
anyone who is working with a GIS project at the county level, this was a
definite “must attend” event. The BHDMA board members did an outstanding job of
providing top-notch speakers from the local, regional, state, and national
level. Rather than list each of them together with their areas of expertise and
where they are from,
Late Wednesday afternoon a Statewide Cooperative Cadastral Committee was formed that met on Thurs. and Fri. to draft cadastral strategic and business plans. Three half-day meetings will be held across the state before the strategic and business plans are formally submitted to the State of South Dakota. I might also add that the BHDMA web site has all the GIS power point presentations from the 2007 SDAAO Conference. So if you missed any of the presentations, you can view them at this site. The power point presentations from the fall conference will also be on the site very soon. I would highly recommend taking a look at what this initiative is all about for the statewide cadastral.
