Job Description:

          Under the direction of the County Commissioners and the

Department of Revenue this person is responsible for performing administrative and managerial work associated with organizing, directing, coordinating and appraising of real estate located within the County for purpose of taxation.   

Basic Eligibility Requirements:   

          High School Diploma or G.E.D.  Experience in Real Estate Appraisal and or Accounting Experience is desirable.  Must be certified or become certified in one year.  Required to be a resident of Butte County.                        

          Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Butte County offers an excellent Wage and Benefit Package.

Position Opening Announcement
Butte County Appraiser

 

Position:            Appraiser 1 for Butte County 

Duties:                Under the direct supervision of the Director of Equalization, is responsible for performing technical and professional appraisal work in establishing real property values for tax assessment purposes. Duties will include property inspections and valuations using manuals and guidelines available; calculating land values using comparable sales; analyzing sales transactions; preparing statistical reports detailing neighborhood values, value changes, and assessment ratios; answering questions from the public regarding appraisals and taxes; as well as various office duties. 

Requirements:  Ability to gain certification through the State of South Dakota within one year and maintain continuing education requirements; Certification and annual education will require both home study and overnight travel with testing; Knowledge of math, statistics, legal descriptions, and computer software programs beneficial; Applicants must be willing and able to work well with the public and office staff; Applicants will be required to reside within Butte County. 

Salary:                To be determined, depending upon experience.

POSITION OPENING DIRECTOR OF EQUALIZATION – LAKE COUNTY
