News from Corson County:
Brian had a current back up of his data at home at the time of
the fire. Harvey brought out a computer last week and we were able to get
everything up and running again. We printed out new Real Property Books,
Assessment Notices and a new Abstract.
Harvey and I delivered everything yesterday. They were able to recover about
1/2 of his work cards from the burned file cabinets in the basement. They were
not in fire safe cabinets, but were packed together tight enough so just the
outside burned.
The County offices have all been set up in the Law Enforcement Building and Fire
Hall. Their new digs are a little cramped, but seem to all be up and running.
The Auditor, Treasure and Register of Deeds had most of their records in the
vaults. Other than a little heat and smoke damage, most of it is still useable.
I did talk with the Emergency Manager yesterday, and the cause of the fire is
currently unknown. The offices in Corson County are all run by very good and
capable people. I have no doubt that with a little hard work they will all
survive this little set back just fine. The remains of burned building is
scheduled to be cleaned up sometime next week and plans are already being made
for a new building.

Mike Burgee brought Corson
County's property cards to Perkins to be divvied up between the District 1

new cards. |
