Butte County News
Here it is July 29th and summer
is quickly coming to an end. A lot has been going on here in Butte County. Oh
where to start!
Our office has seen many changes this past
month. Our Field Appraiser, Erin Asheim, has left us for GREENER pastures! She
was hired by Minnehaha County to be an Appraiser for them and has moved east!
Wagon’s East! Ok, I know, it was a dumb movie! We wish her the best and know
that Erin and her boys will adjust to living east river well! We miss you Erin,
Good Luck!
Our office is also short a Director.
Shannon Rittberger has landed his dream job, Director of Pennington County. Now
he can honestly say he is a Big City Boy. We wish Shannon and Pennington County
the best of luck!
Well that just leaves Heather and me to take
care of the office! We have both applied for the Director’s position and are
just waiting for the commissioners to do interviews. For the mean time they
have appointed me Interim Director. I don’t get the directors pay but I do get
the responsibility! So far so good!
Heather and her family have moved into their
new 5 bedroom home and they couldn’t be happier! They have also purchased the
adjoining lot and hope to build a garage in the near future. They have a new
addition to their family, Salem, their adorable little calico kitten! Maybe by
Christmas they can add a puppy to the mix!
I have also had a busy summer. We have
started on our pole barn on our land. It has been slow going because my
husband, Scott, has also taken a new job. He is the new Emergency Manager for
Butte County. We are very proud of him! The only downside is that it will take
twice as long to build our house now that he is working for the county and not
himself, but that is a sacrifice we are willing to make. If you know of anyone
looking for a house in Belle Fourche I have one to sell!!
J
I hope that you all have had a wonderful
summer and we can’t wait to see you in Sioux Falls at school in September!
Hopefully Butte County will have two new students for Basic’s class!

There is something scary roaming the halls

Harding County News
Shirley Mackey, CAA, CSDA
Summer was a long time
coming and now is almost over! Madonna is like the energizer bunny in and out
working on finishing the rural reappraisal. It will certainly be great to be
finished with that. It shouldn’t take more than a week to get the new
construction visited. That will slide us right into November and getting the
new oil and gas wells assessed.
Shirley just returned from
the Schneider GIS Conference in Ames, IA. The conference provided education in
the areas of added functionality to the Beacon web site, new technology being
introduced, GIS for infrastructure management, funding of projects, and many
others. The entertainment for the Tuesday evening dinner was Wii bowling.
Forget the grandkids; I put one on the list for me for Christmas since I did not
win the one given as the prize for the winning score!! The Schneider
Corporation and their friendly, qualified staff have been great to work while
providing an extremely professional project for Harding County.
The twelve months to come
will be very interesting since Colleen has promised us the new SalesR program
and the new production value for Ag will be coming onboard sometime next year.

Hello again!
What a great summer we are having! It is wonderful to see the cows actually
being able to laze around and chew their cud all afternoon long. Means there is
an abundance of feed out there.
We are
currently working on reappraising the town of Bison. Also doing studies to see
where our External Obsolescence should be for our various properties in the
county. As of now we have 5 Good Ag sales, 15 over 150% Ag sales, and maybe 7
going Na-Z so far this year and the assessment year, as you know, is fast coming
to a close.
As you
already know, Rownea has been elected to the SDAAO Treasurer’s position and has
jumped in with both feet. She has been involved with The Horizons project the
last eighteen months and they celebrated their graduation into Horizons II.
Rownea and her hubby, Todd, are going to be grandparents for a second time in
the next couple of weeks. Krista is just very ready to pop. Their other
daughter, Sammi, has just graduated from high school and will be heading for
National Guards boot camp in September. Tony, the youngest, is entering the
fifth grade come fall.
Laura, our new gal, is working on her
IAAO five course books and is moving right along. Laura and her husband, Kerry,
have settled into their new home and the community here in Bison and are
expecting their first child after the new year.
Janelle is glad her hubby, Todd, is
finally able to get in the field to hay. Lots out there, but the equipment chose
this year for break downs galore. Her daughter, Ashleigh, is a senior this
coming year. And son, Roy, will be a freshman, excited to be able to play
football.
