NORTHERN PRAIRIE NOTES

By Bonnie Fosheim, CAA, Property Tax Specialist,
Department of Revenue and Regulation
Greetings from the North
East part of South Dakota. Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable 4th
of July.
Congratulations to Darlene
Piekkola and her crew for putting on a great conference in Deadwood. The
educational sessions were very informative. The afternoon tour of Deadwood was
very interesting. It was fun to learn about some of the history of downtown
Deadwood. The rain put a damper on things but it was needed. It is always fun
to come out to the hills area. It’s such a beautiful area of the state.
Congratulations to Rownea
Gerbracht in Perkins County on becoming the new SDAAO Treasurer. Rownea will do
a great job as treasurer and is a great asset to the association.
I was able to attend the
NCRAAO Conference in Green Bay, Wisconsin in June. It was a terrific
conference. There were plenty of very good educational sessions to attend. We
had 18 people from South Dakota attend the conference. On Monday night we got
to tour the Green Bay Packers Lambeau Field. It was a terrific experience even
if you were not a Packers fan. Next year NCRAAO will be in Coralville, Iowa
June 15-17, 2009.
I hope everyone is enjoying
the summer and getting their summer projects done. School will be here before
we know it. My how time flies.
Audit time will also be
fast approaching. Please get your sales information in as soon as possible so
we can get started early and finish up early with the audits.
I know this is old business
but I wanted to put it in again because the Aberdeen Revenue office was still
getting phone calls for me. As most of you may know by now I have moved my
office. I am no longer stationed out of the Aberdeen Revenue office. As of
September 20, 2007 I have my own office in the Day County court house in
Webster. My phone # is 605-345-2023 and my address is 711 W. 1st
Street Ste. 103B Webster, SD 57274.
I have some exciting news
that will be happening to our family soon. I’m going to be Grandma again. My
daughter and son-in-law are expecting a little boy the end of July.
How exciting that will be.
Another one to spoil. I guess that’s what Grandmas are supposed to do.
Hope to see you at school
in September.
