Hi everyone,
In January of 1987, Toby Norton resigned as the west river field man for the
department of revenue. Toby had been in the business for many years, the last 17
with the department. He always wrote a column for the SDAAO Bulletin
called “Smoke Signals”.
That spring Toby wrote his last Smoke Signals and the new punk replaced it
with a really worthless article he titled “Trail Talk”. So this will be the last
one of those.
I am leaving the department and on November 3rd I will be the
Deputy Director for Shannon in Pennington County.
I would like to thank all of the SDAAO members for making my 22 years
with the department enjoyable. I liked the work I have done, and the people that
I have worked with.
Of course, you all know where and how to get in touch with me. I will still
enjoy working with you and seeing all of you at schools, workshops and
conferences, though not at audit time.
So, thanks to all of you for making my life easier and more enjoyable. (
